2D Studio Art - Photography
Ever since I was able to hold a camera, photography has fascinated me. It is an art form to capture a single frame from life that will never happen again. Yes, you might take a photograph right after another, but every single image is slightly different from the movement of the light or that single leaf from the wind. This has stuck with me throughout my academic career.
My photography explores double exposed images and ways to manipulate multiple photographs to create a new piece of art. This collection of photographs is greatly influenced by Andrés Gallardo Albajar and Thomas Barbey double exposure. Both use double exposure to utilize the highlights and shadows in their images to make a cohesive art piece. The last artist that my artwork was inspired by is Jered Sprecher. He uses graphs and overlayed images to create artwork which I find fascinating.
I have been very intrigued by the idea of double exposure and creating an image that usually cannot be seen without this method. This body of art uses both film and digital photography to build each piece, and they are then put into a graph that has a significant number sequence to the images to use. The graph brings meaning but also a complexity to the images. It draws your attention to individual squares to dissect the multiple images in each of the squares.
