2D Studio Art - Photography
I am a nature, wildlife and experimental photographer. Upon leaving the Army, I needed an outlet to help with my PTSD. Taking photographs allows me to view things around me and abstract them into digestible bits of consumable media. I use nature photography to find the beauty of the world.
Most recently I have been exploring experimental photography techniques. Through the infrared works of Dan Wampler, Christina Sautter, and Eric Steinhart, I have discovered a new light spectrum in which to see the world. Their use of infrared photography to create haunting monochrome images that seem to glow from within. I experiment through the use of pinhole cameras turning landscapes into impressions of the world and infrared photography to create captivating images in black and white and false colors using both infrared and near infrared spectrums, which allows regular light to transmit as well as the infrared creating a surreal atmosphere of colors. I use these and other experimental and classic techniques to explore subjects such as life, time, and movement.
