2D Studio Art - Painting & Drawing
My capstone project is centered around the concept of craft. This body of work is an exploration in textiles, texture, and dramatic lighting. I have become interested in art forms like classic portraiture and tapestry weaving through attending renaissance festivals and historical residences. In this work I am incorporating colors and patterns that are inspired by illuminated manuscripts, and the Biltmore estate. My creative process involves writing a lot of notes, curating digital materials via social media platforms, and watching movies related to my subject matter. These works are less traditional for me personally media-wise, but each piece was made using materials that were best suited for the subject. I am inspired by the artists Hayao Miyazaki, Caravaggio, and crafts people from across the ages.
